ChristmasMobile(100% Hand-Made Animation Against Generative AI)
Why did I dedicate so much attention to this piece?
You may be wondering why this article, unlike my usual lighthearted posts, is presented with such intense passion.
To be honest, I once had a deeply frustrating experience: a time-consuming piece of work I created was rejected because it was judged to be made by "Generative AI." Since then, I have adopted a policy of disclosing the intricate creation processes that only human handiwork can achieve, consciously incorporating movements that AI struggles with, such as intentional "breakdowns" or natural "pauses" (ma).
First, please watch the following video to see the ingenuity and mechanics of how this Christmas mobile operates.
This is the animation completed after all those steps and adjustments.
As a result, I achieved the smooth motion I aimed for. However, what I want to emphasize here is that Cinema 4D Lite does not feature a physics engine like Unity's Rigidbody. This means that everything—from the left/right balance of the objects to the expressions of natural swaying and rotation—is entirely controlled by my hands.
Specifically, controlling the movement without the assistance of a physics engine is a monumental task. For this short animation, I manually set keyframes for hundreds of individual objects, adjusting the slightest "flicker" and "weight." I believe this huge volume of manual labor is what truly sets my work apart from Generative AI.
With the theme, "Movements that AI cannot create," I blend the meticulous logic I cultivated through my career as a game programmer and embedded systems engineer with my 3D production skills to create new works every day. The 3D images and animations presented here are, without a doubt, creations born from "My Hands."
I am also sharing more detailed production processes on the following page. Please take a look at the evidence of this "handiwork."
